"Next to take the stage was Jackie Paladino, whose music is soulful and poppy. Supported by a single guitarist, she performed her original songs with glass of wine in her hand and her soul as vulnerable as her bare feet, giving the illusion of a young and endeavoring Amy Winehouse. Her set mellowed out and won the hearts of the growing crowd."

Dope on Repeat

January 01, 2020

Tonight, we have the pleasure of introducing the first taste of two artists separated by land but united by label for an exclusive premier.

In “Luvin U,” Foxen and Jackie Paladino beautifully capture the emotions of cherishing a romantic past while the future remains uncertain. This single by the Los Angeles producer and featuring the New York City vocalist isn’t just any other release since it’s also the first official dose of the Coffeehouse label.

Together, Foxen and Paladino provide a well-balanced performance where the vocals and instrumental are greater because of the other. Paladino hits us with heart-warming high-notes and sincere lyrics that awaken the instrumental. Her delicate, but captivating singing caresses the airwaves as she confesses, “I wanna take a ride I can show you all these answers that you've lost inside” and “They say you're a devil in disguise but you're an angel in my eyes.” However, this deep desire to reconnect also evolves with the charming electronic bounce and melancholic orchestra touch of Foxen. His creative direction upholds the fragility and passion of the bitter-sweet end for our two young lovers with the vibrant synths as well as classic string sounds.

While “Luvin U” may have been about keeping the love alive, the result of this Foxen and Jackie Paladino collaboration not only highlights their individual talents but it also leaves us wondering what else is brewing at Coffeehouse #DopeOnRepeat

Writing the music is normally exciting but recording and releasing it can be stressful since it involves so many other elements.  Finding a producer/engineer, deciding on its artwork, debating on when and how to release, etc.  From an outsider’s perspective, it’s easy to see the crisp final product and overlook how much concentrated effort was involved in the journey to get there, but it can be very tedious and time consuming.

Jackie Paladino stops by just in time for Valentine's Day with her latest single, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow." The piece which prominently showcases Paladino's vocals in a stripped down performance, is gorgeous from start to finish.

Her take on the classic song from The Shirelles, Paladino offers up her timeless rendition that makes us fall in love with her all over again with Prawit Siriwat on guitar. A standout vocalist in her own right, we hear Jackie Paladino release a charming and attention-grabbing version of the piece that does The Shirelles proud. Her vocals are smooth and heavenly as they echo throughout, showcasing her creativeness for making the track her own while paying homage to the original. It's safe to say we are in love with Jackie Paladino and her glorious sound.

Never one to shy away from vulnerable topics, Ms. Paladino admits that penning “Rescue Me” was essential to her survival during a destructive, chaotic period of her life. It touches upon the delicate issue of overcoming an eating disorder, and the shame, isolation, and uncontrollable nature that the disease encapsulates.  “I couldn’t control anything.  That’s what it felt like.  I went from a go-getting, highly motivated, highly passionate individual to a girl who hated her choices, hated her body, and clung to all sorts of outside forces in hopes of finding something or someone to save me.  It took what felt like forever to realise that the only one who could save me was myself.”

Choose people who believe in you instead of people with an impressive resume as your teammates, but most importantly, don’t rely on anyone else to do the work for you.  Have a strong, unwavering belief as to why you do what you do (do not make that reason fame) and pursue it as relentlessly as someone you love.

Jackie Paladino is sharing with our listeners here latest music video for her single, “Daddy’s Money”.  The single has a nice 1950’s styling to it and then about 1:30 in it gets a pop infusion that carries through until the end of the single and it goes back to the 1950’s feel.  With Jackie’s smoky voice it fits this type of sound really nicely.  The infusion of pop into the single was refreshing as well and I can hear a remix coming where she uses the pop beat all the way through the single, which I think would be sweet.  The music video is taking ques from the past as well with her and the rest of the crew in period dress with the old style microphones, makes it look nice and classy.  Here’s Jackie Paladino’s music video for “Daddy’s Money” for you to enjoy through her YouTube channel

Vents Magazine Interview

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

It was a combination of a couple of events.  The first, was in response to a boy who was pursuing me at the time, who, in response to my many rejections and excuses about having to work so much, proceeded to insult me with a disgusting sexual proposal in exchange for his weekly trust fund allowance.  I declined.  Shortly after, I met with an administrator at Tisch in hopes of returning after financial struggles caused me to drop out.  I wrote the song twenty minutes after that conversation, out of frustration and a dire desperation to want to overcome my circumstances.

A go-getter at a young age, Paladino’s rigorous high school course-load along with her artistic talents landed her admission into the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts with a substantial scholarship. But her struggle to find a balance between school, the long college days in an intensive arts program, and working overtime to pay for school has inspired her to record “Daddy’s Money.” Her story sheds light on a topic that will hit close to home with many college students from across the globe and a question that continues to persist: Is the American Dream still a reality or are the top schools only for the elite?

She now lives in Brooklyn and is working on her next single.  She earned an arts scholarship to NYU and struggled to find a balance between the long college days, writing music and working overtime to pay for school. This journey is what led to the inspiration and recording of “Daddy’s Money“.

Our Muse features are curated based on women and couples who inspire me and my team and who share a story of strength and determination. We are pitched daily from women and couples from all over the world and if we were a daily I could share with you people everyday. But, we are not a daily. We come to you weekly and for that we have to select our muses and I personally take hours learning about them (if I did not preselect them myself). Jackie contacted us and in her outreach provided such beautiful detailed information along with showing communication skills among her talent that I said we must make her a MUSE.  It is my pleasure to introduce you to Jackie and have you learn more about here below in my Q&A interview. Thank you for being this week's Muse. xx Stacy

Odd, racy, old school, dramatic – whatever you want to call Jackie Paladino, she doesn’t care. The Brooklyn based singer-songwriter knows the risks and rewards of her musical style and sees it as an exciting challenge to keep her on her feet. She admits, “Some of my stuff is a little bit uncomfortable to listen to – it pushes that line. My art comforts the uncomfortable and discomforts the comfortable”. In her latest EP release, the five tracks express themes of love, isolation, lust, heartbreak, and betrayal, with “Daddy’s Money” being the most controversial. Love it or hate it, “they are going to have a strong reaction”, which is exactly what Paladino hopes for.

Creative Spotlights LLC, in association with Roc Runna Press Rocarazzi presents the footage of The Rock the city NYC Event

The date is March 8, 2016. Our hostess, Miss Maria Aparo interviews Hip-Hop artist Forefeather, Amy Grace & Singer-Songwriter Jackie Paladino.

Jackie’s true calling was peaking just around the corner. Writing songs became her platform to fully express herself.  Every original piece recalls a moment, captures an emotion, and emulates an experience—a story in every song. Jackie notes that artists she found inspiring “were using music to express themselves and heal.” With most of her music being based off personal life experiences, she set out to do just that.

Singing original pieces has allowed Jackie to hone in on the “smart, soulful, and sassy” essence of her talent. Her work not only makes you tap your feet, but it makes you think and feel. From pulling at your heart strings to conversation about relevant social issues, Jackie’s lyrics are sure to be intellectually executed.

Drem - Writing to Heal

Jackie Paladino is a fantastic singer/songwriter from the tri-state area in the USA. We actually met in real life way back when in University. However, neither of us remember how! It must have been an English class. In any case, we kept in touch via social media and I have watched how her voice as an artist evolved over the years. I had the opportunity to interview Jackie to catch up on how she has been and find out her story and creative process. Take a listen and know she too…

It wasn’t until Jackie returned to her birth state to attend the music theatre program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts that she discovered her true calling.  “When everyone else was memorizing lines to songs and stories, I was writing my own stories through song, belting out the tunes of Etta James, Duffy, and Alicia Keys along the way.”  Always an avid reader of poetry, she found herself delving deeply into the works of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, entranced by the precision and mystery of their word choice.  As an artist, Ms. Paladino seeks to combine this sense of lyric perfectionism and her urgency to “mold the ugly into something beautiful” along with the power and soul of her favorite songstresses.  She released her first two singles “You Gotta Be” and "You Should've Known" earlier this year and plans to release her debut EP shortly after.

Where do you find your inspiration for most of your songs?

We write what we know! All of my songs are autobiographical. Romance is a strong source of inspiration as it is with most writers, so naturally I find myself writing about various types of love, however unrequited, unhealthy, lustful, or hopeless it might be. I don’t want to be one of those singer-songwriters that only writes about romance, though, because there are so many other facets of life worth talking about. My song “Who’s Gonna Love Me” for example is about how we all have to love ourselves before we can love anything or anyone in our life, and my song “We All Make Mistakes” is both an apology for doing wrong and a cry for compassion and forgiveness. Mostly, I like to use songwriting as a source to say what I need to say to someone when the door is closed and I have no other way of communicating with them. We can’t always win in real life, but we can win in our songs.

From Brooklyn to New Jersey and beyond, Jackie Paladino is just trying to find her way and cement her place in the wonderful world of entertainment. This aspiring and extremely talented singer/songwriter is looking to gain relevancy and dominance in a  market flooded with one hit wonders and talent deficient lucky one’s.  Only in her 20’s, she has already recorded and released a song with Grammy nominated producer Ivan Corraliza titled “Love in War“, and is currently working Grammy award winning producer, Tyrone Corbett.  We had a chance to catch up with Jackie to talk about her life, in the business of music and beyond.  This is what she shared about her life experience thus far with Kurt Langevine of THETKBREPORT.

We continue our conversation with Jackie Paladino as she continues to share her experiences in life and in the entertainment industry, and how those experiences helped to shape her career.
